Arezzo is located on a hill in eastern Tuscany, near the Apennines. It is one of the most peaceful Tuscan cities, with a pleasant pedestrian historical center that is a pleasure to walk around. Enter the Basilica di San Francesco and enjoy the „Legend of the True Cross” and walk to Passeggio del Prato a peaceful park at the top of the city with stunning views over the Val di Chiana. After seeing the imposing gothic Duomo, take a wander up Via Borgunto to see the artisans at work. Or check out Santa Maria della Pieve’s unconventional tower. For true souvenirs head to Antique central, Arezzo’s renowned antiques market and escape the summer heat in the cool tunnels of the Fortezza Medicea. The beautiful surroundings of the city embrace lush valleys, nature parks and forests ideal for hiking.
You can also take trips to other medieval towns such as: Civitella in Val di Chiana (15 km) with its best preserved Lombard fortress or see Castelluccio (8km). Renting a bicycle at Ca de Frati Residence you can reach the neighboring areas and admire the romantic Tuscan landscape.
Ancient cities like Florence (70 km), Siena (65 km) and Cortona (30 km) etc are also easily accessible. Even Lake Trasimeno (60 km) and Perugia (80 km) are just a little more than an hour away. Rome is about 2 hours by train or car. In less than an hour you can reach Florence, Siena and other delightful towns such as Perugia, Cortona, Orvieto, Chiusi, Montepulciano, Pienza.
